Patrick Wagman
Patrick is an organizational development and information technology (IT) professional with over fifteen year’s experience supporting IT systems and organizations of varying sizes. He is a retired military officer and has led teams and projects ranging from five people to more than fifty. He has led multiple organizational change and improvement efforts and managed several projects with multimillion-dollar budgets.
He is the owner and principal of DSC Consulting Services LLC. He has hands-on experience facilitating organizational development, improvement, and maturity efforts. He has led IT portfolio modernization efforts including data center relocation involving system refactoring (not “lift and shift”), moving on-premises operations to cloud computing, and implementing vendor applications. He was instrumental in standing up and building project and portfolio management offices in multiple organizations. Patrick strongly believes in supporting and developing people and technology to better the organization. During the pandemic, he ensured that the PMO operations and major projects continued with minimal impact. He ensured remote staff remained engaged and effective.
Professional interests include organizational improvement, leadership, strategic planning and governance, organizational maturity, the impact of technology on individuals and organizations, and portfolio, program, and project management. Specific technology focus includes application and infrastructure modernization, application development, cloud computing, and data management. He works to ensure efficient and effective use of IT staff and computing resources across the IT portfolio.
Patrick has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems. He continues to pursue learning opportunities related to technology, consulting, leadership, program, and project management. Patrick is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a certified People Skills Facilitator.
Patrick has given multiple presentations at conferences including EDUCUASE, the University of California system IT conference, and the University System of Georgia IT professional conference. Topics ranged from specific projects, building a PMO and training/mentoring project managers, People Skills, and organizational change.
In his personal time, he pursues a wide range of activities and interests. He and Donna (spouse) are parents and former foster parents having worked with thirty-two children in their home. He currently pursues running, hiking, fitness, and endurance sports. He enjoys cooking and dining out with Donna, looking for local restaurants that offer exceptional foods. He reads on a wide of topics including technology, science, science fiction, leadership, productivity, and creativity. He is a practicing mindfulness mediator. He believes that a variety of experiences improve thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and create a more enjoyable life.
